Speaker 1:

Hey everybody, welcome back to another episode of Reels and Rhythms presented by Carry On Friends in partnership with Style and Vibes and Breadfruit Media, and you are tuning in to our review of the Netflix series out now called Champion. Champion to the world.

Speaker 2:

So when you watch this right, one of the thoughts that came to my mind I'm like why is Bujibantan Champion not part of this theme song?

Speaker 1:

Also I'm thinking you say boats to the world.

Speaker 2:

Yes to the world. That was secondary, but off the top of my mind I'm like that would have been a nice, but I'm sure it's probably contractual the way that the series is. They had to have thought about it and maybe it just didn't align.

Speaker 1:

But I also feel like Champion is. I don't want to say a very Jamaican thing, but everything in Dancel and Reggae was like yo, may I Champion song, may I Champion this, Even the name, barris, calling him Barris Champion, because Barris Hammond is the Champion. You know what I mean. Yes, you can't think of Barris the father without thinking of Barris the singer, the legend. So yeah, all those things kind of pop up.

Speaker 1:

So in the last episode we just kind of laid the groundwork for the series that's on Netflix. We laid a groundwork of the cast of characters, most of the cast of characters, and we talked about episode one. We're going to try to cover episodes two and three in this episode. So where episode one ended was Vita or Viah dropped to the gauntlet and said that yo, it's Champion versus Champion. Because now she's going to be singing, she's going to be performing on Bosco, her big brother's rivals new track, and that rival is Bula, and Bula get pumpin' nerve. I mean I like saying he named Bula because I love Bula, but me can also see why he named Bula, because in the panel it's a, but then it's a starchy side. It's a little bit starchy, husky. You know what happened. You look like you want to say something.

Speaker 2:

I'm like I wonder how he got that name. I bet you have some. It's Bula cake.

Speaker 1:

They said it it's Bula cake. Yeah, because it looked like him in fact. But then just in the start, nithyan just said Bula. Right, but that word has different meaning in other Caribbean countries because, yes, trinidad has a different. It does is not a nice meaning in Trinidad, so, anyway, but for because they're Jamaican, british Jamaican offsprings. Bula is for the Bula cake that we eat.

Speaker 1:

And so the episode opens up with Basko there with a ting in our apartment and then boom, boom, boom half a side of the door and the ting start record Basically. Then my repossess Basko apartment and the ting record it. Yo, that thing bothered me through the whole series, that yo then quick for record everything. I'm like, yo, like the girl with the quickness, a record the bailiffs coming in and talking about the repossession of the apartment Obviously she's live streaming it and carried a whole man business guard road and then that cascades into a whole other thing. So in the previous episode we talked about Basko having some mental health issues. He's having some serious anxiety and PTSD from his two years in prison and with each issue that he runs in it just adds on top of his already ballooning mental state. So you know.

Speaker 2:

And what I do like is you kind of talks about it is the idea of streaming Like that's a very today now situation where, and even throughout the entire show, you see like comments and social and how press really amplifies the feelings. And I really loved that, how they integrated that into the entire series because he's already feeling a certain way. And then you go online and you see XYZ and sometimes it works in your favor and sometimes it doesn't. I think in Vita's case it really helped her and kind of helped her catapult herself, but for Basko it kind of like turned people against him, if you will, and it really showed that side of how quickly you can be hot one moment on the internet and then not one moment on the internet and you have to have a certain level of mental toughness to even step into the arena of entertainment in this day and age. And so it also shows how much social media does play a part in amplifying and or the potential to tear down an individual who's already down.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, like you said, I love that. They kind of I can't remember the term for it in film, where they just kind of ballooned. So while you're watching it, you're seeing on your screen the, the emo reactions the overlay of the social media reaction, so I thought that was great. In Episode two is where we get to see more of Barris, and we alluded to him being cross Angry me is a rebel.

Speaker 1:

He ignorant, right, we need to have he ignorant. And my husband and the Jamaican man say, on top of that, indus one, we are in, stubborn, he's charming, stubborn, he's charming. And I tell you, the actor plays this role so well. And then we also see the the opposite of that in Linux, right? So Barris is the father and ex-husband of Aria Vitas and Bosco's mom, and Lennox is her new boyfriend of six years. And then ox is just like in tech here at home, one of the things that I noticed the kids. They fear their father in terms of like in serious. But if you notice, particular in episode one and even episode two, lennox, they are people with Lennox, right, you saw the interaction with Lennox and Vita where she, you know, she was like should I do this? And Lennox, I encourage her, and Lennox say, oh, you know, so the pinkie went me to sing, you know like little things like that. So because he's not their father, he's a little bit more gentle, they open up to him a little bit more. Versus Barris is just treat militant.

Speaker 2:

It's like what bears walking. I room everybody stress.

Speaker 1:

When Barris are go up the step and Lennox just ease up so he need chest, just like no. But the presence of these two men, while they're not, you know, like the main characters, is very important because Lennox is not an outlier in a Mickey and speak for any other Caribbean community, but such a make and community you have the ex, you have the, the father, the ex-husband. I have this other man who come in and he's really holding down the fort and he's being a Different kind of father figure and it's very supportive. But you can also see, say, arianna really rate Lennox. The weird that Lennox to get ratings right Now, this episode Lennox got selling good Good Ken Booth record.

Speaker 1:

He won record catalog, whole catalogs, to get the money so that area Can get by stove in at the restaurant, the restaurant that area and Barris caught on, by the way, about berries. Clearly, now I've no money, now I have to shelling to in the end like grandma you.

Speaker 1:

You know, and shelling is appropriate because this is a petition right and I have to shelling to in the end if it contribute to anything. So Lennox being the man who is the fixer in do everything himself his record collection to get the money so that a stove, or cooker as they call it, can go into the restaurant so the restaurant don't stop operating and met money. And you just see the contrast in these two roles of who they are and how they are really supporting cast for the two kids who are central to the show.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, you definitely understand how much more over bearing Barris is as the episodes progress. It's an interesting dynamic and I think that Lennox kind of feel the the presence of Barris and in order to rid him in my foot, some financial Investment come in my work with aria at a restaurant with where Berry son aria on in my living at the O's where berries formally did live, and you know he still feels his presence through aria and the kids very much, even though he's very, he's very assured of himself and who he is. He's not trying to compete with berries in that way, but he just want to show up him team.

Speaker 1:

You know he's clearly, and not the money yard. You know, berry still has that. Even though we're very Not even ring doorbell, he does flop the the meal slot and and then does Open the door because I'm very stay, no, that's right. So those two gentlemen and how they angle for influence with the mother and the kids is a theme throughout the entire episode. So what else is happening in this episode? So, um, I, vita goes to the studio, then Gira sang and Shana feel it, and Mark is pushing her to do this song and she's like yo, this is not me. And then Laura, aka Popcorn's cousin yes, yes, it's in the studio, he's a sound engineer and Mark steps outside and Vita is kind of confiding in Laura, that is, she writes for Bosco, but that now leave the room. But Mark outside, go here. I'm press record, I'm putting the USB. And one thing to that Miss Elad, miss Vita, go. Menu exactly.

Speaker 2:

As soon as she started going off, like even the fact that like I wasn't expecting him to record. But I'm like these are people you just met and you know Mark's place in your brother situation. I get that you're angry with your brother. It also is me playing into the theme of wanting to protect Bosco in my mind, like it's almost like, but it's just like you're letting family business outside, the family kind of thing. Like I don't know, I felt away about it, but I'm like, should I really feel away? Like, but it's just like you don't get in front of strangers and talk like that type of detail. It would have been better for you to go off on Honey, because they saw that, then to go off and talk about Bosco and their feelings.

Speaker 1:

but yes, this is exactly why I said the show was an emotional roller coaster, because, yeah, your family business, the other family, but what we also have to put ourselves in Vita's shoes like nobody else now listen to her, nobody isn't paying attention to her, so she don't really have that outlet to talk to everybody else, because even if she talked to somebody else, they always bring it back to how does this going to impact Bosco? And they still don't pay attention to her feelings. So, yes, she shouldn't care, the family business, go out and ruin it. But whenever she has a conversation with anyone within a proximity to her circle or who she can talk to, they always bring it back to Bosco as opposed to centering her concerns. And so, unfortunately, she let our guard down from the very beginning. Meeting with her Laurent, was too convenient, missande, just did it.

Speaker 2:

I never liked Laurent. I never liked it.

Speaker 1:

It did too convenient for the minute. You walk into the club and in the studio to record with Bula, missande Laurent, give her that look like yeah, you know one of those things, but it is. That's the emotional thing, like I do like, keep the family business in other family, you know, because everything's a miracle and it makes up your nose and mark.

Speaker 2:

Are you, you're, you're, it's already a weird situation right and you're taking advantage of and it's like, okay, I kind of understand that. But then to go and be in that space, knowing that that's not your studio, your brother's studio or you don't know these people very well, to kind of release it in that setting, it was just like, oh, I knew this, this wasn't going to be good, but I wasn't expecting. But when, when I saw that he recorded it, I thought he was going to release it immediately. So it was interesting when he released it.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, you know. So after that studio scene it cuts to Honey, who is a barber, and Theo the friend. Honey and Theo are Vita's friends but then did hook up and I think the line that Theo says is so mature and it's a real talk that I don't know if many people can have. And Theo says to Honey it's cool if you're not in a place that you can be happy for her, because Honey was going off about basically outshine her and all these things, complaining because to Honey, I was the one who brought this opportunity and I got pushed out of that opportunity. And that emotional reaction is fine. But she didn't really give Vita a chance to explain and she also I think it was misplaced anger because she knew Vita didn't do anything At the month.

Speaker 2:

Then she's supposed to upset with but she can't take it out Again. That's another thing. She can't take it out on the people in the studio because they have the potential to kind of help her with her career. The closest person she can take it out on is Vita. Very, it sounds like a similar situation to Bosco. He knows what's going on but he can't really take it out or vent to anybody. So Vita, we see that Vita kind of shoulders a lot of the emotional burden and baggage of the people in her life and she's kind of that loyal person sworn to secrecy, and you get that feeling from her immediately.

Speaker 2:

So that's why I was also like when the whole, when she was talking about what happened, I was just like, yeah, well, maybe I shouldn't be thinking this way because she's just bursting at the seams herself. She's just bursting out in a very different way and it feels a little bit more. It's not as escalated as Bosco, but they're both blowing off steam and feeling the pressure of something and again, because they're not able to kind of fully have a conversation without fighting and it really escalating Like I was surprised Honey didn't really give her an opportunity to explain herself because it wasn't really her intention and if that is your friend. You're born in a far, far long time. Like I didn't. I really didn't like that. Honey rubbed, kind of rubbed me the wrong way when she kind of started reacting that way.

Speaker 1:

Like those type of things I'm gonna respond to. So like Honey's reaction was just like this is just too much and you're just wiling out and like, first of all, honey, first of all, you bring me to their studio, you're called, embarrass me in front of the student, in front of the man, because you start catching attitude, because the man they might say what am I going to do? All right, look, all right, we're gonna come back. They were pretending not to listen what they were listening. So that whole reaction me kind of have Honey have to decide. Like before we meet, let's stop chatting a long time People are like let's say mm-mm, don't we're good, cause if you know me, don't embarrass me, then we're there Cause you know. Say it's not my intention for show you up, right, but not if you didn't want to.

Speaker 2:

But Vita doesn't even know that. She's being embarrassed because she's so used to it you know what I'm saying? Like she's used to being the punching bag a little bit, so it's not odd to her that they're fighting in that manner or in that place or in that setting, and it's almost like she's unaware of how much people rely on her until, like, she then kind of starts to think about it, like she's never had the time to kind of stop and think about it. And now that she's thinking about it she's just like oh, I need to do me.

Speaker 1:

So that goes back to what you had said in the last episode, where it was just like Vita is so unaware it's kind of the conversation I told you, my friends tell me so unaware Like she's good playing a supporting cast because she's like she killed the supporting role. Right, she could do that. She's not thinking of herself as the star. She's around people who think of them as the star, as they're the star and they are good with her being in the supporting role. The minute she's breaking character and stepping out of being everybody else's supporter, I remember early on Facebook many, many moons ago where everyone was like, oh, which friend, the supportive one, like I don't want to be the supportive friend who will support me when me want to be supported, right? So Vita is a supportive person and so when she needs support, there's no one there to really support her fully, unless it revolves in the context of as long as you're still able to be there for me, type it in.

Speaker 2:

I can support you.

Speaker 1:

Yes, yes, yes, yeah. And so this episode, it's the clash. It escalates where she was supposed to perform with Bula, but Mehmet, the secret boyfriend and Bosco's friend, show up to support her. Mehmet convinces Bosco to support her. They go there. Bula sees Bosco in the crowd and decides to yo, I'm going to clash the man, as we used to say in Jamaica, splash Anyway.

Speaker 1:

So in Stardom, ting Panistij. In Drao, bosco. And this is where we see that Bosco really is the battle rapper he could freestyle. So in Makil Bula, panistij cuts to Mark looking like he's wetting his pants because his artist now look like a punk Panistij At his own show. At his own show, bosco did don him. As they say, bosco the shell don't replace his shell, shell, shell. No, like I'm going to say you're shelling it. Yo, versus we just say shell, shell, shell. Either way, we all know what that means, right. And so this is where we see Mark goes to the DJ and whisper something to the DJ. And so we knew that the recorded conversation of Vita and Laurent talking and Vita saying that she write Bosco Rhymes was going to come out and it eventually does. And Tori come to bump Fiamm, brimstone, hurricane, gilbert, tonda, lightning, hercwik, sonami, everything just happened. Why are you laughing? Because you know it's true.

Speaker 2:

Yes, yes, yes, and the description just sweet me, you know.

Speaker 1:

It is true. And so they end up going home in the middle of Lenox proposal to Aria which, as always, Lenox, always feels Lenox no, we have to set it up right.

Speaker 2:

So Lenox, remember saying sell him good, good catalog, right and good, good catalog and sell it. Then I'm going to buy the people that cook her, put it in her car, in my open, for sure. Aria say, yeah, me as a champion doing my own right. Then I'm having rigging them good, all, putting me as the trunk is open and the oven, the cooker, assure Aria, look putting. And in my proposal I depicted them just running at the oars. I will laugh about what happened at the club. And so, oh man, that escalated extremely quickly. So Aria, dismiss Lenox, leave poor Lenox, putting me outside. It went to the cook away and just buy Runs in the house to chase the two kids. Moscow proceeds to explain what happened. Vita confirms and her mom is just like get out, I was just like what.

Speaker 1:

Go ahead, gary. No, something else happened. Like she said, you don't know nothing, this is what the music business is getting you into If you want to take your brother business to the street, blah, blah, blah. And then she says get out right. And then Lenox intervenes and she said I will fuck it. The British act left, I will fuck it.

Speaker 2:

She said I will fuck it. We see what she said. Oh, she said I will fuck it.

Speaker 1:

And that's like the tension of blended families, right, you have the child or children that's not the current partner's child and you're co-parenting, but when the proverbial poop hits the fan, the birth parent is going to pull rank and pull rank in a way that's going to make more cracks in their relationship. And so it's a very precarious situation to be in, because when she said who, for pity? Right? I mean I'm like oh God, no, she should not do that, because you saw Lenox back away, right, because in a feme mind, vita is like his daughter and he knows that Arya's reaction is not a good one and this is not in the long run helpful. But she can't say that.

Speaker 1:

And it goes again to highlight that he's in the family. But when he'm ready, everybody puts him in his place, arya puts him in his place and Berys puts him in his place. It's never Vita or even Bosco. I try to put him in that place Because even when Arya kept going to Bosco and I try to figure out, it's not such a scheme time, right, he knows how to pace the kids. The parents, the birth parents, don't know, they're just driving the children.

Speaker 2:

Yes, yes, I agree, Were you surprised that? And maybe, as I'm thinking about it, maybe I'm not as surprised, but maybe it's more of an observation. Arya's reaction I expected, but I also expected Berys to be equally pissed off about it, but he really wasn't, and that's kind of going into episode three, like he wasn't as distraught over what Vita said and how it was kind of like in the media.

Speaker 1:

Because Barry's calculated, barry's a long term, barry's a player in the long game. He's ever playing a long game. So now we're going to episode 3. And he's like yo, the pit of them need for chat. He's not business, but welcome on road. He said the pit of them need for chat because the champion name is at stake.

Speaker 2:

Yes, yes, yes. We have to fix this Because the champion name off in their road positive. Fix it. We have to fix it by any means necessary. Our kids can't be out here. And to a degree you kind of admire that Because you're like, yeah, he's putting the kids for it, like the kids should be talking, they should be, you know, getting so like Barry's a drama in too, because he's like he'll do something for you and then he kind of charm you and now you get on the skin and then charm you, watch out, watch out.

Speaker 1:

But he also feels like he knows his kids. He's like your boss goes to, like he mother fighting. Vita is more like me, cool Calm. Just like, but he's playing a long game because Him and Don have some bandoodle thing, I go on. My is right.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, I have some bandoodle thing I go on, I must see a bag I get messed up in to pit of them because he's writing everything he has on his tour Kids and them. I continue the formula which is they're a peaceful Vita. They write all of these things. So what happens then? Is he then checks in with Aria Because he realized, say, oh, I'm a child, vita, now answer Vita. So At every moment Barry's a run interference with the kids, between the kids, with the mother and the picnic, and then he's like you know, he's playing with the mother and the picnic, particularly and the mother. So he goes to the restaurant and stands up behind Aria. Aria, jump, I said Paris, how long you been standing there.

Speaker 2:

Not long enough. I just come for some cake. You know you make the best.

Speaker 1:

The best. You say you know, I can't eat anybody else carrot cake but yours.

Speaker 2:

And then she proceeds to tell him that she was proposed to by Lennox. He's like, like he's not. He's like I'm not worried, you'll always be a champion to me.

Speaker 1:

That's horrible it was so fun, but she was.

Speaker 2:

But you can see how she was so long Like probably so charmed by him For so long Because he's like you know, I'm like I'm not worried about him, Because he probably just has the capability to kind of Draw her in, Even when she's like walking out the door.

Speaker 1:

I mean Mary says just like in let's add, domineering cross Hungry. He's horrible, ignorant, charming, domineering. Stop on One away.

Speaker 2:

You know like.

Speaker 1:

That's just various champion. What else happened in this episode? It'd be an episode three, right? So?

Speaker 2:

Is this the one does Vita release her single at this point? So she, she, so she really actually releases the single. And the single In episode one, her and honey are singing the song and I thought it was a song that was like popular, that I didn't know, and it ended up being a song that they wrote together as kids. Vita wrote the song for the twice For the two of them. They were kids, so they were always singing the song together.

Speaker 1:

Yes, they were always singing the song together.

Speaker 2:

Thanks, yeah, that's the clarification.

Speaker 2:

So when she's in the studio with Laurent and Mark, she ends up recording that song and Mark, really, so Mark is like release King In release the single without her knowledge and release the recorded without and recorded without her and recorded without her knowledge and release the recording of her talking about her brother in the studio.

Speaker 2:

So I'm just calling the release King and like, yeah, mark is like, and if you really want to get into the music biz, this is a great series to watch because this really showcase, like how up and coming artists I mean, granted, you know Vita has access due to her brother Success. However, it really shows how you can be on the scene and still be so naive to certain aspects of the business, all because you just love the artistry. And Vita is completely naive to everything and I think she's talented, but she's naive and you can see why she couldn't be the manager. She just thought she could be the manager because there's no way she was going to be able to do Even what her later manager does or what Mark does in either capacity and both were completely opposite. But, yeah, the only person she could manage was her brother and I think that that wouldn't wouldn't have been a great situation for her anyway, because he would probably just not listen to her Right, he would just dismiss her. He would dismiss her.

Speaker 1:

Yeah. So this is the episode where, after the whole released by Mark of the conversation, bosco goes to the studio with Mehmet to record and some ting in the studio, some girls in other studio. Well, it's about people. I can never understand why when you're going to a studio, one bag of Hunter Raj in the studio, but hey, they're in other studio, it builds the vibe. You know, I don't know, mm-mm, mm-mm. So one other girl I record Bosco, lucy Mind Box, where the girl phone and she's like you're a nutter, you're a nutter and she's like move from here. So dust, dust dust, dust.

Speaker 2:

Yo, we ready for we'll go back out, we'll touch down on that land. We know all of this land dust. It's probably not gonna be even relevant by the time I get there.

Speaker 1:

But and kick them out, including Mehmet and what we at Honey coming. Yes, we back up, we need to back up, Back up.

Speaker 2:

he need to get back up.

Speaker 1:

So Honey and Vita end up on Theo couch when our mother kick her out, honey come at Theo apartment and start quarrel with Vita, and Theo come out our room and say yo, nobody with this. So while Vita was getting herself together, honey picks up Vita's song book and walk out with it. So that's that Fast forward. After Bosco run out, everybody out of the studio. Honey knew where to find Bosco. She back up Vita book and she make it be known, say it let's use a song and then bill a song. They record our singer song from Vita's book.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, the song, the hook. They took it from her book and positioned it as if she it was an apology right, like her way of apologizing to her brother from afar, so as if she had, as if Honey had permission to have that book, and this is also what Bosco is thinking right. So Honey positioned it as of course she knows I have it, cause. He asked her does Vita know you have the book? And she says of course. And she said what do you think?

Speaker 1:

Or yeah yes, yes.

Speaker 2:

So it's unclear to me, but in Bosco's eyes, because he needs a new song and he knows Vita is a great writer, he's going to be able to use whatever is in there. And so they kind of collab on a song written by Vita and Vita can't find her lyrics book, and she later finds out what happened to it.

Speaker 1:

So during this time Vita left tailhose and go our father apartment and yo you did catch going back. You did catch that first episode or the second episode when Bosco went in father apartment and he said yo, by the way, I'm gonna get message to the rent late. I mean, like yo in my PA in father rent in father apartment and he can't even go live with the in father. When he get kick out he have to go back to her mother.

Speaker 2:

But anyway, I was like how he got such a nice apartment. That was my first thought off the bed. I'm like this is a very nice apartment.

Speaker 1:

It's a nice flat, yo, it's a nice flat, a very nice flat.

Speaker 1:

So she's at the father and the father is doing his job for work. Vita say yo, bosco, in one you're coming on the tour. And Vita is like you serious? And she's like, yeah, man, you should have seen. When we tell him say yo, your day and in my coma. And she's like all right, my brother wants me to come to the show, blah, blah, blah. So they go to Bosco's first show on his tour and she, she go there and she sees Bosco and honey they perform a song. And she realized yo, that's my song. And she gets upset. Realize that, honey, I have our book. She got in at the back in the green room. Forget our book, I shouldn't leave. She said mama named Panidore and she had ear like a nice. And she, she kicked in the door. I like she never kicked the door, she just pushed the door, mama turn, I look a thing, I go on with things. And she's mama, jump up. It wasn't nothing, this is nothing. You know, by the way we didn't talk about.

Speaker 1:

Mehmet. Mehmet broke up with Vita after the whole reveal. See, we don't go all over the place.

Speaker 2:

Me. I call him Mehmet the man grill. No me, never did like that. I'm this, I'm this. Miss Vita, so quick.

Speaker 1:

No, it goes back to the theme that they all really triangulate around Bosco. They don't know any better. They enable Bosco their whole lives have been around Bosco at all costs, bosco to the point where they protect Bosco when it's even against their best interest. So he breaks up with Vita because she goes over there and she tries to play her case and he breaks up with her. So now, the first time she's seeing him since the breakup, which is a week, he's in the room and he's not doing anything and he runs after her and he says whatever, whatever. She gives her a box and she walks out and then she walks out with Laura. No, she never walks out with Laura. That's how our next episode yeah, jump too far. That episode five or six. So after that, no, she called Laura.

Speaker 2:

Oh, yes, yes, she went to the studio.

Speaker 1:

I'm ready, I'm ready, I have the perfect song. And that's when she recorded the song.

Speaker 2:

So yo, I am glad that she recorded a song. That was just a song and not necessarily like a it wasn't aimed at her brother or her friend, or it was just a good song about being in your feelings and kind of doing your own thing, but it wasn't like attacking anyone in her camp. I was worried that that was what she was going to do until we heard the actual song, so I thought it was good, even though we're talking about this, there's a good chunk of stuff that we're not talking about.

Speaker 1:

Oh, yeah, yeah yeah, clearly, because with a zigzag. So, oh, right in. So we've just covered episode two and three and if you haven't already watched it, you really need to watch it, even though we've given you the spoilers, we just had to tell you, or a reaction to some of the foolishness that's going on up until episode three. So watch it. We want to hear what you think, what your reaction is, because I think some reaction that it's a little team, but I think my reaction I come in a couple episodes down the road Yo.

Speaker 2:

I was like where can this story go? And it goes there and it does it so well Like if you have not watched it. Please, you know, definitely, make sure you check it out. And not only that, the music is really, really.

Speaker 2:

I was about to say this the music supervision on this top notch, this whole series, this whole series and it really it really gives way to what the London black music scene is and like it does grime, it does a little bit of reggae and dance and like the R&B that is coming from Vita, like that is the sound that you're hearing now from a lot of artists from London and from the UK and we're now being permeated with that sound.

Speaker 2:

I immediately thought back to Estelle and how she kind of crossed over musically earlier in her career and she was bringing all of those sounds and it wasn't necessarily understood at that time but now, like she primed the US market for what that those sounds really are. So I think the music is really a great highlight and it's really just a highlight. It doesn't really even go into the, but it's relatable, right, like it doesn't matter the style. It's still palatable for anyone who is interested in music, much like Empire or I'm trying to think of, like some of the other stars that have music, as the theme and the plot lines are good and the music is good and this really has just has a really nice spin on the culture. So definitely recommend that you guys watch it.

Speaker 1:

All right, so that's it for this. Episodes of Reels and Rhythms. And we are still on Champion, the Netflix series that's streaming now. Go watch it, check it out. It's worth it. All right, and so we're still. We, still, we went up to episode three, so we have five more episodes to go. We're going to try to knock it out in at least another two more episodes, but I don't know if we're going to get too much, it's a lot.

Speaker 2:

it's a lot for top boards. But you know, like we said, little more, little more, little more.

Speaker 1:

And that's it. We have played for a couple more few weeks, okay, so I hope all Jane will find find the right conclusion. Exactly, she's still trying to be fun.
